(FAUSTINA KOWALSKA, 20TH CENTURY
APOSTLE OF DIVINE MERCY
Will
Be Canonized by John Paul II on April 30, 2000)
"Before I come as Judge "
Jesus said to Sr. Faustina:
"Before I come as the just Judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy. Before the day of justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens of this sort:
All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be great darkness over the whole earth. Then the sign of the cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and the feet of the Savior were nailed will come forth great lights which will light up the earth for a period of time. This will take place shortly before the last day."

Mercy Sunday (First Sunday after Easter)
The Lord wants this day reserved as "Mercy Sunday". In order to complete the Novena one must go to Confession, Mass, and Holy Communion on this first Sunday after Easter. Ask a priest to hear your Confession before Mass and Holy Communion.
Jesus said...
Whoever receives the Source of Life (Holy Communion, and Confession) on this day will be granted complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. Let no soul be afraid to approach the Fount of my Mercy (Confession) even though its sins be as scarlet.
My daughter, tell the whole world about My Inconceivable Mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and a shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender Mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My Mercy.
The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day are open all the divine floodgates through which graces flow. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My Mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom throughout all eternity.
Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender Mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My Love and Mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy. .
In 1935, blessed Faustina received a vision of an angel sent by God to chastise a certain city. She began to pray for mercy, but her prayers were powerless. Suddenly she saw the Holy Trinity and felt the power of Jesus ' grace within her. At the same time she found herself pleading with God for mercy with words she heard interiorly :
"Eternal Father I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son , Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world; for the sake of His Sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world".As she continued saying this inspired prayer, the angel became helpless and could not carry out the deserved punishment. The next day, as she was entering the chapel, she again heard this interior voice, instructing her how to recite the prayer that Our Lord later called "The Chaplet", From then on, she recited this form of prayer almost constantly, offering it especially for the dying. In subsequent revelations, the Lord made it clear that the Chaplet was not just for her, but for the whole world. He also attached extraordinary promises to its recitation.
"Encourage souls to say the Chaplet which I have given you - Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of death - When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between my Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge, but as the Merciful Savior! Priests will recommend it to sinners as their last hope of salvation.
Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this Chaplet only once, he would receive grace from My infinite mercy... I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy... Through the Chaplet you will obtain everything if what you ask for is compatible with my will. Prayed on ordinary rosary beads, The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is an intercessory prayer that extends the offering of the Eucharist, so it is especially appropriate to use after having received Holy Communion at Holy Mass. It may be said at anytime, but Our Lord specifically told blessed Sister Faustina to recite it during the 9 days before the Feast of Mercy (The first Sunday after Easter). He then added:
"By this Novena, (of Chaplets), I will grant every possible grace to souls".
It is likewise appropriate to pray the Chaplet during the "Hour of Great Mercy" - Three o'clock each afternoon (recalling the time of Christ's death on the Cross). In His revelations to Blessed Faustina, Our Lord asked for a special remembrance of His Passion at that hour. The Chaplet can also be sung using various melodies.
